I would have to say august 9th sounds like a good time since DMS is next week. If it sounds good I will call in and book the room.

Hi,

Sounds good to me. Thanks.

Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea if someone brought a reef related video to watch on the television.

Hey guys,

There's a major problem with the meeting on the 9th of August. This falls on the 2nd Saturday of the month, which we've already agreed we wouldn't do because the Killifish Club meets on this date as well. Therefore, we need to bump up the meeting earlier, so that the Round Table Pizza guys can clean the room, or we need to leave at exactly 6pm.

Here are some other dates that fall on the second Saturday this year:

Sept 13
Oct 11
Nov 8
Dec 13

You can use the Time and Date (http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/?year=2003&country=1) website to find any other important dates.

Hi,

So why don't we start a 3:00. This will give up 3 hours which is as long as most meetings last.

Thanks,

I was thinking about starting at 3pm also. I'll give RTP a call and have them bump up the meeting an hour early.

I'm at somewhat of a shortage, so I'll supply Chris, DR, and Durwin. If you can supply anyone else who's interested, that would be great.

Thanks!

Ocean Art is on the Southwest corner of 48th St and Ray. It's next to The Room Store. They're closed on Mondays, though.

I answered this in the Do I need to bring anything for you at the next FRAG meeting? (http://archive.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=223672) thread. The short answer is that I didn't make enough this week, but Blue should have plenty. E-mail or PM him first, though.

Since we saw you come in at 4pm, we all assumed that you thought it was later :p

Actually, this was the first time we bumped up the time because there was another group that had also reserved the meeting room at 6:30pm.

hi i am new to this salt thing and live here in the valley.

i just started my tank so i dont have anything to trade as of yet, but because i have a nano tank i think i should have lots to frag in the future.

tendar
08/14/2003, 03:01 PM
Aura yes all are invited to come to the meetings the are open to the public pretty much and you dont have to have frags to come it is just the name of the club the some bonehead came up with that causes nothing but confusion.

FRAG is just an acronym for Fish & Reef Aquarium Group. We're meeting August 23rd, which is in 9 days. Round Table Pizza in Tempe (Rural&Ray) from 4-6pm.

thank mx-tang, you have been a big help. its kind of ironic that you would have it at round table as it is so close to me i can practically see it right now. thank you all for you welcoming invitation! i might be able to pond a friend along too! i am going to see this new ocean arts tomorrow!

Reed,

When you initially go into Ocean Art, it's pretty nice with all of their display tanks and acrylic setups. They're also getting in a lot more corals and such, which is a really good thing. Anyone is welcome to the FRAG meetings and we hope to see you there next Saturday :)

BTW, do you only have your Nano tanks setup at the moment?

auracleofdesign
08/15/2003, 02:25 PM
right now my setups are:
2.5g cycling (ready for snails)
5# of LR ~3# of LS
27w @ 6.7k + 9w @ 7.1k atinic

6 g in production, waiting for a 70 watt DE metal halide
has ~17lbs of sand and 1lbs of rock
i have to check my schedule but i am pretty sure i can go to FRAG
thanks again.

Hey Reed,

I just checked out your post about possibly buying 50lbs of Live Rock. Are you planning on setting up another tank?

auracleofdesign
08/17/2003, 09:49 PM
i was thinking of maybe throwing my empty 29gallon together.
i thought it would be cool to put a frogfish or an angler in there. but i think ill have to wai on the idea as i need to pay for my college books by the 23rd! i just got some kaelini for the 6 gal., and ia m going to work on that tank for awhile. I work at Petsmart, so alot of people offer me tanks for free. my house is becoming a fish tank warehouse so to speak.

Howdy all,

I'm hoping to make it to this upcoming FRAG meeting on the 23rd and look forward to meeting all of you. Being that this is my first FRAG mtg, is there anything I should bring? Should I expect any "hazing ritual" such as dunkings in a tank of lionfish? I'm just getting my 50 gallon reef set up and don't have too much of value (I just got my FIRST CORALS from Bri over at Ocean Art, hurrah!). Life is good...

...What am I doing up at 1:11am you say? Why just returning from getting gas from Circle K on 48th & Elliot! No wait, go now ;)...I'd be willing to trade a couple gas cans I filled up for coral. *grin*

Finally, I think I have successfully set up my first "FishCam" of my tank. Check it out:

http://reef.cioara.org

Tell me if it works (haven't really tested it outside my house). The fish tank lights come on at 7:00am. See? Being a computer geek CAN help in reef keeping!

Take care,

Jeremy

1:11am? That's it? I'm usually still making water until 2-3am and then run out to get gas. Last night was horrible because I had to fill up two cars at 3:30am! I finally spotted a station with gas on Elliot and Rural which only had a 10-15min wait. BTW, it's people with spare gas cans, going in to fill up with cash, or line cutters who are getting castrated with canoe paddles!

Ha! Just remember, I'm filling up the gas cans to get valuable FRAG trading material! I've got nothing else!

So what type(s) of corals did you happen to get at Ocean Art, Jeremy?

jer0886
08/20/2003, 09:47 AM
MMM...a few:

1) Candy coral

2) a rock full of zooanthids

3) Sun (or sunflower) polyps

4) Red Mushroom (who isn't doing so well right now)

5) Mystery "green" coral (that Brian gave me when he drained his 55 gallon tank)

mx_tang

Sounds like you're starting your coral empire, Jeremy.

So how much gas has evaporated out of the bottles so far and how much gas will a few SPS frags get me? ;)
