Welcome to another episode of "What's Is That in Steve's Tank?"

This episode, we take a look at the back left corner, where it's very hard to get a good photo. My clown has been spending a lot of time back there with it. It's purple and resembles my Frog Spawn, however I don't think a spawn would grow on a slate rock like that. Any ideas? It seems to be attached to the rock and there's nothing else like it in the tank. The clown fish is very protective of it.

Thanks again for your help.

Are the clownfish "fanning" it with swimming motion. I have seen clowns lay eggs on standard bathroom tiles placed in the tank, so they could be removed easily for hatching in another tank.

I don't think they're eggs. It's been there for a few weeks now, getting bigger.

I'm not really sure what we're looking at....
I see a purple blotch on that rock, but it doesn't look like frogspawn in the picture. Or is it just me?

Steve, are you sure it's not corraline algae that you're seeing? THat's the only purple thing I see in the pic.

It's hard to tell from the photo. They're a small clump of something, with grey tips on them. They're all clumped together, kind of like fingers of an Anemone. I have corraline algae, but it's not it. Maybe it is some sort of Anemone, but it's growing ON the rock, and not in one big clump. I think that Frog Spawns grow on husk-like things, and not on rocks, right?

Anyway, maybe this photo will help (it's in such an angle, that I can't get a good macro shot of it. I'm pointing down behind rocks to get it.)

also, they're soft and move with the flow of the water, or if the clown rubs against it/them/whatever.

I'm leaning more towards eggs now. I'm gonna have to look up what to do next.

I couldn't see the video, can you try again? Can you take that rock out?

they must have been eggs. They're gone now. I guess there was two groups of them, in the same spot.

Something must of eaten them. They will probably do it again. If I were you I'd put something flat in there, Paul mentioned a tile that you can easily remove just before hatching and set up a little breeding tank. I always though it would be neat to breed clownfish. :)
