Computer fans don't count. I can get a 4" computer fan for $6.99, but I wouldn't use it on my reef.

Why not ?

It's just a fan. They sell the dust grills with the screen for 4.99 so I don't see why not.

I've been running 4-5" 12v fans for about 2 years now with no problems. I even added a speed control for noise control. Rinse the dust cap in the sink let dry and put it back on. 12v DC is not as lethal as 120v AC thats why I chose it.

I also bought one of those solder yourself $5 flood kits with audible alarm and connected to a simple capacitor timer so that if my water level in my aquarium gets too high it turns the pump off for about 3 mins then tries again exc.

Yo

I live near Orlando and I might be interested in some of the stuff, Ill be setting up a tank in August. Maxijet- is that a powerhead? If so, what do you think about its usefulness in a 65 gal tank I plan to keep soft corals in? Also, I might want the fans. I'm going 50/50 with a friend so I'll talk it over, but just wanted to let you know I might be interested.

Neon-

I'm thinking about the fan. Give me 'til tomorrow to measure the canopy on the tank I'll be getting? Want to make sure it will fit. The height of the fans enclosure is 4.5", right? Or is that just the fan's blades? I will take it for $15 shipped, if it fits.
