Fish, finally.. but i had 5 at 4pm 7 hours later, i'm already missing one,, can't find him anywhere... gone... no traces of a suicide jumper,, no paw prints, and no trace of fish #5.... My tank temp was too high... now at 76 degrees....Where'd he go, they're all damsels, two yellow tail blue, 3 domino - 2 now.. hmmmmm :eek2:

If i'm not mistaken, i don't think you should mix damsel's. Unless they have lots of hiding place's. Damsel's are aggressive, specially to their own kind. Domino's do have a habit of hiding (or was it the 3 stripe ? ) . So keep a watch out during feeding time. :)

These particular Damsels were mixed in the tank at the store... and I THINK,,from what i remember reading at one point.. damsels even mixed are ok IF you put them in at the same time??..

Colleen, you were half right..,, I did find him today, my missing domino... he became one with the power head last night while i was gone....I reversed gears on the thing this am... and out he came along with some culerpa.... I hope he didn't feel anything..:(

Powerhead death is definitely a frequent cause of fish demise. My powerhead ate my ghost shrimp.

supposedly it'll help my tank, right..a dead fish,,and I didn't have to let one die... all working out... i'll just pray for the rest to make it...

You should get a strainer for that PH. Wouldn't want any more fish to get sucked up.

agreed and looking... my LFS doesn't have any, but suggested getting a sponge and cutting away enough that it'll fit on there.. just that it's not aesthetically pleasing....but will do the trick if i can't find a regular cover....

I would imagine that sponge would get clogged up pretty often.

Maybe you should just replace the power head and keep it as a spare, I wouldn't want to see you loose more fish that way.

per advice I took the cone itself off, so its a broader surface they could get free but for now there is a little bunch of Culerpa sucked against... i think just enough so the fish won't be, but not enough that it's blocked,,thinking it's acting a natural screen perhaps for now, Pet Paradise told me of some kind of filter i should put on the end of it,, for 12.00 and said it would also help with my tank being clear...but being soooo new,, people could sell me almost anything so I figured i'd wait and ask...

I know what your talking about, we had those for our old 90 gal tank. They really do clear up the water but they clog up almost daily. I got tired of cleaning them, so I threw them out.

What kind of power head is it, we may have a strainer laying around here somewhere. Not sure though, I'll ask Paul.

You can get a new Maxijet powerhead online for between $12-$20 (depending on model). They have screens on the intake so fish can't get in..... Certainly not a lot of money for the welfare of the fish. :)

Ladymagica, Sorry i do not have an intake screen for an 802. Ask Bobby or Rick at Pet Paradise they may have one laying around. If you do use the quick filter attachment for it you will have to clean it very often. They clog easy and can become nitrate factories. Hope this helps--Paul
