I just got 3 tank-raised clarkii clowns. The first morning after adding them to the tank, two were swimming happily in the center of the tank, waiting to be fed. The other was MIA. I checked around the tank, and noticed him (her?) laying in a depression in one of the rocks. "oh no, first fatality", I thought.

However, after I turned on the lights, he swam up with the other 2 and seemed fine.

Now, every night when the lights go off, this particular clown lays down, either against a rock or on the sand. The other two swim close to the sand at night, but don't touch it.

Is this laying down behavior normal? Or, is something wrong?

Seems perfectly normal to me...

Yep - sounds like beddybye time ... normal for mine anyway (although they prefer an anemone or even a bunch of xenia to a rock).

My Clarki clown would do exactly the same thing as you mentioned...lay right down once the lights went out. It was a great fish..till it jumped out of the tank :(
