Anyone think I could keep a Blue Tang, Flame Angel, F Percula, and Royal Gramma in a 40B?

Blue tangs (all tangs) need alot of room to swim and a 40b isn't long enough IMO. I'd have a tank that was atleast 6 feet long. All the others would be ok though.

Personally, even if it was your only fish, I think a tang in a 40 is just not a good idea. I wouldn't consider any but the smallest tang species in a 75 (minimum) - and that's pushing it.

There are plenty of other fish around who's natural range is not much larger than a 40 breeder. I suggest those (blennies, clownfish, damsels, royal gramma, gobies (some require special diets), even a pygmy angel (C. argi) would do fine. A tang wouldn't.

I agree with Aaron1100us. If you skip out on the blue tang, you could probably add a couple of smaller fish instead.

Yea I'm debating about a 75 gallon tank. Because it costs a lot for a 15 year old almost 16 to start up a reef tank. Plus if I move out in 2 years for college what to do with it.

OK, What about this then:

40 Gallon Breeder Drilled

2x175 MH 10k Bulbs.

In 20g Sump:
Wet/Dry Filter (Haven't decided on which one yet)
Bak Pak 2 Skimmer (Small for a reason)
3 gallon HOB Refugium - Feather Caulerpa, 3" SB

600GPH return or should it be more?

Flame Angel
Royal Gramma
2 F. Percula
Springerii Pseudochromis - Any thoughts on Him?

3" SB in main tank
2x200gph+ Power heads

75ib LR

I'd ditch the wet-dry filter. Your sand bed, LR, and skimmer will be all that you need. Otherwise it's just a nitrate factory. And I'd be cautious with the flame and the springerii. Should be ok, but just throwing a word of caution.

I forgot to mention I would remove the bio balls and replace with high surface area live rock.

if the breeder is about 3 feet or less i would only go with one 250w. There would be more heat with two 175 then with one 250. It really depends on what you want to keep. Just a word of advice make sure you get your parents into the hobby. I have 75 that i setup a year or so ago. My parents are going to take care of it for me while i am in college. So think about that if you would still like to get a tang and all.;) Also why dont you just turn the sump into a 20g refugium. You can still leave room for your skimmer and stuff. I am just giving you some ideas . Take them with a grain salt:smokin:

I already have the dual 175w and I don't feel like buying or trading for a new light right now. Truthfully I could turn the 20 into a refugium, wouldn't be too hard.
