I went to a LFS and saw some mushrooms. I asked what it was and the guy said it was a carpet mushroom. It looks more like a ricordea to me. So is there such a thing as a carpet mushroom? If there is how are they different from ricordeas? I would also like to see a picture comparison so I could better tell which is which?

Thanks,

Did the carpet look like this? I'm not sure what this shroom is, it can get up to 5" in diameter at times.

Some of the corals looked like that and some look strikingly similar to ricordeas. The LFS called both a carpet mushroom.

Stormbringer22 - That pic looks like a ricordia yuma. When I look at my ricordia florida they do resemble very small carpet anemones, so maybe the LFS doesnt know what they really are and they see the resemblence to the anemone.

That looks exactly like a yuma. BTW Our LFS has this bright orange "shroom" looking thing which to me looks just like the Yumas, only it is a lot bigger. When I got my ricordea in the tank, after a week or two of feeding it, it has puffed up all fluffy and is like 2x the size it was in the store. They told me the orange thing was a rhodactis.
This is my Yuma

I figure it's the easiest way of getting ricordeas for cheap:D. As long as the LFS thinks it's just regular mushrooms and selling it accordingly, hehehe.
