Going through the threads in this forum, i noticed that most of the ppl who say they have fast zoo growth have pc's and vho's...
is this true for you? if so, what watts/bulbs do you guys use?
Thanks!

I had a 48" 2x65 watt PC on my 55 gallon and my six polyp frag turned in to a 23 polyp frag in like 4 months.
I just upgraded my lights to 4x55 watt and they look even better now.

I have 2x96W 10K PC's and 2x110W VHO's over my 48" 60 gallon tank. They grow like crazy.
Remember: It's a combo. of things that will get them to grow well.
Water current-they love it!
Lighting
Feeding and supplements

Thanks for the replies.. I'm a lil impatient waiting for my zoos to grow out.. it's been a month and I've yet to see any progress with my sunburst 12kk MH... I think I'll buy a PC add-on.
What kind of bulbs do you guys use? 8800K? 10kK? 7100K?

10K's on my PC's.
True actinic on my VHO's.
MUCHO REEF

I have used PC's on my main reef for many many years now. I have managed to maintain hundreds of them with no problem at all. Growth will be somewhat slower in most . I chose not to use MH because I knew they would cover my entire reef. The PC's have allowed them to grow very slowly. This way I can maintain a natural look in my reef. With the right color ( bulb) combination, the colors are great. Not as intense as MH lighting, but still great for viewing. I always recommend slightly more actinic than white because the 10 K's tend to wash out the colors. Also, current is key to growing zoos. I took a 5 polyp frag that feel into a corner in my main reef that received good lighting and no current. I placed it in a steady current and it doubled in diameter in less than 3 weeks. The only possible reason was the current which carried the nutrients it was lacking in a dead spot.
Ronreef hit the nail on the head when he said, "Water current-they love it! Lighting,Feeding and supplements" This is the gospel truth when it comes to growing zoos.
Good luck.

FWIW
I have 265 watts of PC lightining over my 90. I bought a tree coral that came with 4 Zoo hitchhikers and in about a month maybe month and a half tops they went from 4 polyps to maybe 16. The only thing I dose is kalwasser with make up water from evap.

2 X 65watt JBJ PC 10K daylight
2 X 65 watt JBJ PC 7500 blue actinic
When the 7500K's are used up I'm gonna replace them with true 03 actinics though.
