The Amiracle overflow that eddie's sells is good. I have two of them and they are reliable. it's not cheap though, about $60. The ones I have use one siphon tube and handle about 300 gph.

If you don't have water in your 55 yet, I would seriously recommend having it drilled for a bulk head on the back or the side (the bottom is likely tempered glass and can't be drilled). Siphon overflow's are a pain in the a**.

Try eBay too - do a search for overflow in Pet Supplies and you will find a few nice ones.

When I had a 55 up, I was using about 300 gph with a Mag 5 return pump.

Research the overflow you choose before you buy it. Some of them are notorious for losing siphon (flood).

wow 300 seems a lil small from what people have told me, some have suggested 800-1100 GPH

You want to make sure that whatever one you get, it should have a airline valve connection at the top of the siphons arc. You connect that to the type of powerhead that takes air (for aeration) and place it in the tank. Then if bubbles accumulate at the top of the arc the powerhead will suck them out.

I used these things for a few years, but really hate them. I personally would empty a tank and drill it rather than use one....

Depends on what you are keeping in your tank. The return pump doesn't have to be your only source of circulation.

You can say that again nothing like a wet floor!!!!

Im also using the ones eddies sells i have two of them. I belive they are rated at 900 gph not sure .... I run a mag 12 as the return ....

Wish i would have taken the time to have the tank drilled ...
I wont do that again.....
