I know I've been told before that Pickling Lime that you can get at the grocery store is essentially the same think as Kalkwasser - is this true? Can I put in the same mixture of pickling lime per gallon as kalkwasser, or is there a different ratio?

Are there some brands of pickling lime that are better than others?

Thanks,
Shelley

i've heard that to and have also heard that it might not be as clean, like with metals in it but i could be wrong. Just what i've heard.

With all kalk, your OK as long as you don't the stuff that settles. The high pH almost ensures the product fluid is suitable for reef tank use. Can't explain but go to the reef chemistry forum for more info.

I've been using mrs. wage's pickling lime available at DFW area krogers for about 10 months now with nothing but fantastic results.
