I'm sorry guys, I was supposed to post this 3 days ago, I have made short notice even shorter. :(
Because of the holiday tomorrow, our meeting for today had to be reschuled. Our next meeting will be Sunday, April 27 at 2:00PM at Les' studio in Bayshore.
I hope our President, and Founder, Mike (Sci33) will be back by then!

is studio adjacent to store? i only know where store is...

DgenR8

Studio is directly across Montauk Hwy from the store. You could always stop in the store to ask if you're not sure, Les will be happy to point you to the studio.

Tom,
It was never really cast in stone for yesterday, Les had the room open, but decided that the day before Easter might not go over too well with wives and other asst. family members. So no emails ever went out, add that to the fact that our President, and Founder is frolicking in the sunshine out in Ca. without his email list, so nobody got emailed. I just didn't want you to feel unwanted...... :D

I may not be there either guys... I will be away starting tomorrow, on vacation with the wife and kids and may not be back in time.

What is the topic for this meeting?

04/21/2003, 10:21 PM
Tae,
On the sand trade thread, DgenR8 gave me these instructions to Les'. Apparently, the meeting place is in the studio across the street from the shop.

"Les is on the South East corner of North bound 5th Ave & Main street in Bayshore.
5th Ave splits, and becomes 2 one way streets. So if you're southbound on 5 th Ave from say, SS Pkwy, you will go one block south of Main St., turn left, make the first left again, and Les' store is on the right hand side at the first corner.
Fishy Inc."

I hope this helps. -John

04/22/2003, 05:56 AM
I'm sorry TaeKim,
I haven't checked here in a couple days.
The studio, while I don't actually the address is easy to find. If you follow the directions above, to Fishy Inc, which is on the South East corner of Northbound 5th Ave. & Main Street, you're there! The studio is directly across Main Street from the store, it's on the North East corner of Northbound 5th Ave. and Main Street. The entrance is actually on 5th Ave. Arthur Murray school of dance, or something close to that.
I'm looking forward to seeing some new faces!

Now is the time to decide on what topics you want to talk about at the meeting, also if anyone would like to present their tank or bring in photos etc, speak up.

I'm planning on being there.

Some ideas for topics.

Dealing with algae problems, new tanks to old. What to expect and how to overcome them without using chemicals.

Getting and keeping the right levels of Ca in our tanks.

So you want to keep SPS.

Feeding corals, observations from those who do.

How much current do you really need.

Maybe we could have a person discuss their tank each month. If they are having any problems, group discussing to help them out. If not, the group can learn from what they are doing.

Tank of the club month, newbie (less than one year) and oldie (more than one year).

That's all I can think of right now.

old and new tank... thats a good idea. I'd love to do my tank, but not this meeting. first i gotta figure out how to work powerpoint.

I'm curious about feeding coral. My tank is skimmerless, should I still feed?

myerst2
04/23/2003, 09:43 AM
I'd like to discuss feeding corals. I think it is important and sometimes overlooked by some reefers, myself included. Tim

Easily Distracted, I should have a few zoo's for you, purple, brown, yellow and orange.

Fishome, any more blues, mine just let go and disappeared, need 3-4 polyps. Also, I can photo shoot your tank and do the powerpoint or help you along in anyway.

I can bring the screen as long as someone brings the laptop and projector. If I must, I can do a tank of the month 11.5 months old, but would be missing a major development in the next month (sump and squid)

pyro383,
EXCELLENT. Just nothing too big. I don't have a lot of $ right now. I have some of Fishome25's blue zoos. If he is not going to have any new ones for a while, I might have some soon. I recently set up Halides and things are looking promising.

My vote is for fishome25.

I will get you 3-5 polyps each, loose. The mh will allow these to take off. I am experiencing 2-3 new polyps every week on each colony.

Power point is a walk in the park. You could just use the wizard which takes you step by step. You can save the file to a disk or burn it onto a cd/dvd. If needed we can do a quick tutorial at the meeting.

All we need now is a projector.

Is there such a thing? :D

Fishome25,
Actually, money is my biggest concern right now. I don't get paid until after the meeting and Uncle Sam made sure I wasn't weighed down with extra cash from my last check. I would like to connect with you later in the week though, when I am better prepared. I appreciate everything.

Also, if anyone needs a backup hood fan, I have a few computer type fans that you are welcome to. They won't be the quietest, but would be good as a sub while yours gets fixed or something. Let me know. -John

Also is anyone does not have a cd burner but has digital pics E-mail them to me and I will burn them for you. If anyone has any zoo frags for sale I would be interested as well. I would be interested in just about any frags because i'm lookin to jump start my tank as well.

Im interested in the yellow polyps,

zoo's

brown/gold
