A book I recently read suggests that for a reef tank, if you use a canister filter, for optimal biological filtration, you should also use a fluidized bed filter. My question is: if your using live rock and live sand with a canister filter and a skimmer, wouldn't adding a fluidized bed filter be overkill or just bonus water quality? check my profile for my current set-up. Would this make sense if my ultimate goal is a coral or two and anemone(s) and a clown or two of course?

With everything you have as far as LR and sand goes you won't need a Fluidized bed filter. Even the cannister filter may be more of a hindrance. It can trap wastes that break down and can assist in the production of nitrates etc..
One thing I will add in as well is your tank most likely be big enough for two anemones. They are very difficult little creatures to care for. Unless they are the same species then it can work. Do keep in mind that Anemones can wander.
How much light do you have?

you've got a corner tank...therefore an inherently relatively deep tank design. PC's aren't gonna work. In fact nothing short of a halide really cause of the relative depth of your tank. That's your first problem in keeping an anemone. As for the fluidized bed, they are a great method of biofiltration IF you have a very good mechanical filter in front of it that you clean regularly--at least once a week. That's where the catch is.....

the lights 65w each and the tank is 23" deep with about a 2" sand bed, the highest point of the live rock is just under half way up or 10-11" from bed. the pc rests directly on the glass cover.

your anemone will attach to the glass/acrylic at the top of the tank. I have first hand experience in this. In contrast, once I changed to T5, my anemone moved to a more regular bottom of the tank position. BTA's are my only experience.

though I will say this, that is my experience w/PC. A fairly unhappy one overall. others like PC, but I really, really don't. Maybe you're anemone will be happy under the PC....but the odds are against it IMO. My experience is rather limited, but I have done what you're proposing, and the anemone was so light hungry it literally attached to the top of the glass. I've got pix posted at thesea.org. After I switched ot T5s, it moved to a cave on the bottom of the tank.
