Bill and company-
I was contacted by this gentleman who has a cloudy-eye lion....

I have a Lion fish that is at least 10 years old. He has been in excellent
condition for all these years until recently when I introduced a Naso Tang
into the tank. The tang brought ick, I have treated it and it has subsided.
I now am faced with bothe fish having cloudy eyes, the lion's are actually
protruding. I posted the following message at the fish forum and was told to
contact you for help. I hope you will be able to help me.

After treating the ick with quick cure 4 days ago my lion has been left with
cloudy eyes. After going to various fish stores I have learned that I needed
to treat him with an Antibiotic. After coming home from the fish store with
Myacin capsules, I checked the Lion once again, this time his eyes are not
only cloudy they are now swollen almost 3 times the regular size.
I will treat the tank with the Myacin every other day for 5 days. I will do
water changes on the off treatment days. Is there anything else I should be
doing or can anyone recommend something else that might be of assistance to
the lion?

any ideas???

The Maracyn (assuming the SW version and not he FW was sold to him) should work for than. I would expect to see some improvement in 2-3 days if that particular antibiotic will work. If not than I would switch to nitrofuran or kanacyn. The big trick is choosing antibiotics that are both tissue soluable (meaning it can be absorbed via the skin) and are active against gram negative bacteria.
