Now, I'm preparing a new reef tank of 80gal.
Is the EHEIM 1260 enough as return pump attaching 3/4"sea sweal?
How about IWAKI 30RLXT?
Thanks.

The 1260 would work but after calculating head pressure the 1262 would be a better choice at 950gph at 0ft. Eheim makes a great pump- very rugged and bordering on indestructible. The fittings are 3/4" NPT so you can swap them out for PVC if you desire. The Iwaki is a better choice simply because less heat will be transfered to the water- Eheims draw a lot of power- they are very high torque and use a big magnet- they add a substantial amount of heat. I would expect a 3-4degree rise over ambient on your tank from this pump.

Had an eheim 1260(?) for like 10 years. GREAT pump, BUT not the strongest in the world. I personally like dedicated externals. for a 80 gallon tank, minimum you want 6-700 gph out of your seaswirl, and more likely you want more depending on whether or not you use supplemental circulation. Iwakis have a great reputation, but IMO are somewhat noisy, especially the american versions. I like the CSL pumps cause of the noise factor, but they do add heat to the system. The GRI 510 is fairly quiet, but only gets about 600 gph or so at 4 feet.
