I know that alot of people has troubles with JBJ light fixtures, but there are also a few that has had no problems.

I can get a hold of a 24" 2x55w JBJ light fixture (stand alone I think) for about $75 w/ new bulbs. Should I risk getting it? The guy says that he got it for $225. That's all I know so far, but I would like to get some feedback before I pursue this any farther.

Thanks,

just the bulbs(if in fact new) are worth 75 bucks so why not? I have a JBJ light that I havnt had any problems with in about 7 months of using it. At that price I would think it would be worth the gamble.

I bought two about a year ago.
One for my fresh water and one for my salt water tank.
The two fans on the unit is starting to make a lot of noise.
The unit gets pretty hot without the fan on.

I work in a fish store and I service aquariums. The stores that I know carry them have more returns on JBJ lights than any other lights. I have seen cases where they started fires. If the light burns down your house its not worth the 75 bucks. One of the tanks that I take care of had a JBJ light melt down the side of it. Just thought I'd let you know my experience.

Hmmm. I might just rethink about getting these JBJ lighting. I've heard bad things about them but not this bad.

Thanks for the info.
