shipping mushrooms(just cut?)

I am looking for any information on shipping mushrooms after they have been freshly cut. Is it safe to cut them at the stalk, then immediately ship them? I know they are tough, but not sure if they can handle it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello, under no circumstance should you cut and ship any shrooms. Yes they are very hardy, however cutting them exerts stress on them, if you complicate the process by shipping after cutting, they will die. When the shrooms arrives to its destination it will be slim. Trust me, it won't live.

Thanks for the info. Do you have any suggestions on how long they should heal before shipping?

I always allow 5 to 6 weeks or as soon as the polyp has reformed. Sooner may be fine, I'm can't call that one since I have never tried it. I would suggest waiting at least 2 weeks to allow them to recover somewhat.
