Just wondering. I think some of my fish food is freezer burnt(a lot of it) the fish take it in, and spit it back out, sometimes act like its not even there. The stuff thats freshest( older, but fresher) they scarf down. They even go for flake spirulina instead of frozen cubes? Whasup?

I dunno for sure, but since my fish like some foods and spit others out, I'd have to say yes. Also, it's prolly not a good idea to give them freezer burnt food to them as it could actually be spoiled. I threw a whole bunch out a few weeks ago myself. HTH

Hesaias - I think they must because they obviously like some stuff and hate other stuff. My algae blenny really goes for frozen bloodworms but doesn't even look at anything else (other than algae of course). You oughta see that big old mouth chomp down those worms - really funny!

Speaking of freezer burn and frozen foods - have you ever gotten distracted by something else while feeding and left out the frozen package of food until it's all melty? MAN...! I did that just last week with frozen mysis and frozen bloodworms - 2 packages almost full, too. I felt like a FOOL, too!

I'm sure Q-ball would never do anythin' like that wouldya Q?

Who, ME? ;) Yep, lost a few packages over the years that way. I usually blame it on the cats though!

Ya know, I have been 'hanging around' here for about a month and just yesterday I was thinking, (after my blenny ate my tang's poop) Do fish have taste buds? But, I was afraid it would be too silly to ask...but now that the door has been opened...do fish have taste buds?? Just curious :)

Heya Hes, yeah, Q-ball's just fine...there's this guy in the lounge called Q, seems a bit strange though... ;) Oh, and my triggers seem to think my puffer's poop is some sort of delicacy!

Yes, hehe, fish taste their food. Cetainly it would seem a more thorough sensory experience for them: smell and taste in a fluid medium are practically one blended operation.

What the real question should be is what they think tastes good. Apparently the taste of your freezer isn't one of them :D
