The tang's eye looks worse today. Before I added the first dose of ampicillex I changed out water and added the shielex as recommeded. I checked everything in the water to be sure everything was good before adding the medicine. When I added the medicine I also added the intensive care also. The day after the initial dose I am finding .4 ammonia. I don't know whether to continue the medication and take the chance of the ammonia going higher and causing even worse problems. The LFS said I could use amquel to control the ammonia while I finish the medication. But will it hurt the fish to have both of these in the water? And will the amquel remove this type of medication from the water basically making it a waste of time. What would you recommend?

The Amquel shouldn't pose a problem for either the fish or the antibiotic. The amquel won't hide the ammonia from the test kit, but it will form a temporary bond with it that will render it non toxic.
