OK, I'm going to put together a reef system using a 29 gallon main tank. I plan to have a 20 gallon sump under the main tank. I also plan on having a 15 gallon refugium above the main tank.

Can I get some advice regarding favored designs of this refugium? I will use an PVC overflow (1/2) to cycle water back into the tank.

Assuming that I have a DSB in the main tank, what should the refugium be stock with (sand, rock, algae)?

What flow makes sense for the refugium?

How about lighting above the Refugium?

Should I have a skimmer in my sump as a precautionary device?

Thanks
Jeff Richard

I'd pop this over to the main discussion: your volumes are a little high for the nano board. I was going to hitchike on this thread, since I am planning a similar addition to my 65 gal, which has a 20 gal sump, and I'll be adding 10 or 12 gal refugium and prop tank all plumbed together.
