ok first off thanks for the help. So far i have gotten 25 pounds of live rock and some live sand and a piease of coal with a mushroom and snail in the tank now, but my main ? is what is a good salt water test kit that is not to exenexpensive and which web site is a good one to order it from

Test kits are not an area you want to skimp on. Get cheap, unreliable kits and you could pay for it with all your livestock.

Salifert is a good type of kit. Accurate and not very expensive.

I like the Hagen test kit (calcium, nitrite, alkalinity, ammonia, nitrate, iron, phosphate). It's like 60 bucks for the whole kit. I'm not good with colors and I can read them well on this one. I have a salifert low range nitrate kit and it's good also. The only test I've heard of being in question on the Hagen is the phosphate test.
