As announced, the March SEASL meeting will be a trip to Inland Aquatics in Terre Haute, IN. This was a highly successful trip last year and I know many of us were eagerly awaiting the trip again this year. It is a very easy drive right to the Indiana border, but it will take some time. I estimate that it will take 4 hrs from 270 and 40. For those of you who have not been to Inland Aquatics, here is a link to their web site.

As most of you know, this place specializes in captive raised corals and fish. If any of you want first-hand advice on raising green water or rotifers, this is the place.

Here’s the plan:

Meeting Location
We will leave from the Cracker Barrel restaurant in Troy, IL. Since it is right along I-70 in the metro east area, it should be easy to find and on the way for everyone. Also, we should be able to leave cars there, and people could get coffee/breakfast before we leave. A link to a map of that location is attached below.

Schedule
Because of the travel time involved (probably a solid 3 hrs from the Cracker Barrel) we will leave Cracker Barrel at 9 AM so that we arrive about noon. We will take 45 min for lunch and be ready for a tour about 12:45 PM. After the tour, there is plenty to revisit at this facility. Also, it will take some time for them to bag our purchases. Based on my visits to Inland, I think it would be easy for us to spend a total of 3 hours there. That means we’d leave about 3:45 PM and get back to Cracker Barrel about 6:45 PM.

Car Pooling
I have the following suggestion for those people interested in car pooling.
1. Contact other SEASL members to arrange your own car pool.
2. We will start a car pooling thread on Reef Central. Make a post to indicate whether you are a driver (and how many riders you can accommodate) or a rider. Then, as you see an opportunity to hook up with someone, email that person to make your car pooling arrangements. Keep in mind, if some car pools are going to meet in St. Louis, plan to leave St. Louis at 8 AM so you can meet the group at Cracker Barrel by 9 AM.
3. Show up at Cracker Barrel prepared to drive or ride. However, be prepared to drive in case all the prearranged car pools are full.

Also, it would be thoughtful if the riders covered most of their driver's gas cost.

If you are planning to go, please email me by March 2nd. In your email, please include your cell phone number, if you have one. (I’ll keep your cell number confidential. However, we may use it to talk between the cars during our trip.) We need this information for two reasons. I want to reduce the possibility of leaving someone behind in Troy. Also, Inland needs a head count so they know how to staff for our visit.

Let me know if you have any questions. We hope to see you March 8th, 9AM at the Cracker Barrel in Troy, IL
