I am new to corals but not saltwater tanks. I have a 10 gal tank what kind of lighting do I need? I would like to have a mix between softies & sps. I have thought about having a few pixie's in the tank too just not sure about the lighting.

10gal tank for softie/sps...DON"T DO IT. i wouldn't softies that close in that little water volume could easily hurt sps. do one or the other.
heck you could do a 150,250, 400w MH w/ 2x32w PC's for dawn dusk. the options are unlimited
provide more what you want and we can help

Second that. SPS or softies, not both. If you're new to coral, try softies first. SPS are very advanced corals.

I third that. SPS are difficult and require constant dosing of calcium and other elements! Stick with softies and/or LPS. Also, don't do a metal halide just yet. I feel that they will only make you want to quit the hobby before you give it a chance. Start with power compacts! Halides are hot and require fans.
Just a thought!
