Greetings from a newbie

I just discovered this forum and I see several fellow Missouians here.

I am in the process of setting up my first Reef Tank and I am planning to go with a 48x24x34 120 gal or a 72x18x22 AGA with twin overflows. I am in southern Missouri and locally or even in Springfield there are no sales of reeftank ready aquaiums so i will need to order from out of state and pay 150+ for shipping. I can travel all over Missouri to say shipping cost and I am sure those of you in the St. Louis or other city areas may know of local stores that carry these items in stock.

If anyone knows of these maybe you can send me information and or there url and phone numbers as it sure would be more convenient to travel locally in the state then to pay high shipping costs.

Also any opinions on if 72x18 is better for length foom then a 48x24 for all arouns enviroments.

Regards,

Talonn

Talonn,

There are several good stores here in St. Louis that carry tanks. Here are some of them and their phone numbers.

Saltwater City
7742 Forsyth
Clayton, MO 63105
314.726.4000

Andy's Animal House
218 Meramec Station Road
Valley Park, MO 63088
636.861.6022

Clayton Pet Emporium
509 South Hanley Road
Saint Louis, MO 63105
314.725.7757

Beldt's Aquarium Inc
7025 Howdershell Road
Hazelwood, MO 63042
314.895.3350

Reef Systems
2236 1st Capitol Drive
Saint Charles, MO 63301
636.947.5999

As for tank dimensions, I would prefer the 48x24 because it will provide more visual depth and allow for more creative aquascaping compared to a longer yet narrower tank.

Southdown....good luck. It is pretty hard to come by in MO. When someone does have it available it gets snatched up pretty quick.

Another option for you might be a used tank. The St Louis Post-Dispatch classified section will generally have at least one large tank listed each Sunday. There is currently a 130 with accessories listed for $450. Depending on what is included that might or might not be a good deal. I know someone with a 300+ tank if you are interested :eek1:

What kind of 300+ tank is it Gary? I am looking for a nice sized sump if the price is right.

thanks,

Dave

I am sorry to say that the 300+ tank has been sold. He does have a 55 still available, though.
