We talked about doing them every quarter or so. I think late March/Early April would be a great time to have another Frag Swap. Larry said his place probably would not be available for another swap too soon. We had discussed doing a swap somewhere in Rancho or Onatario. Maybe a Denny's someplace.

My backyard will be ready for a BBQ swap in Late Summer, if people are willing to drive to the desert. I should have most of my outdoor projects done by then. So you can count me in for a place to go for the Summer swap. 106 degrees of summer fun, hurrah. ;)

Now, i'm curious when the next frag will be, i wasn't being careful moving things around in my tank and broke off a piece of my green monti....so more frags availble right now. I'll probably trade a few in and save some for whenever the frags gonna happen.

well, my place will be a tad small for 25 people unless you don't mind spilling out onto the balcony area and the bedrooms. :)

i think dave wants it at his pad in encino......

Hey all,

I offered my place up a bit ago. I have a big yard, but better yet I now have an operational frag system outdoors.

Thanks to some local MASLAC and Valley reefers, we had a frag and beer get together last night and I now have an assortment of frags started.

http://reefcentral.com/gallery/data/500/18153Frag-Sys-Apr-03---4.jpg

This is a picture of the first tank. If the weather permits this weekend I will have an identical tank / sump setup as this running this weekend.

I have plenty of room to float/store/hold frags in warm water. My yard will accommodate up to 100 people, and the house will hold a number of people as well.

If someone would like to pick a date, being that I am new to this hosting stuff, I am not sure what protocol is.

PS - Anyone interested in a foot long Naso Tang. I have had him for about 3 years, but I think he is going to need a new home.

Having never hosted a Frag Swap before I am not sure about a couple of things and was hoping someone with Swap experience could help? Since the date of Saturday April 26th was chosen be the masses....

What time of day are these usually done?

Do I need to provide anything ?

Bags, Water, Beverages ?

As the host am I allowed to request bright red and pink frags ?

What else do I need to know ?

Thanks,

Dave

Dave,

These are the things you should do as a frag swap party host:

1. Provide free beverage (alcoholic and non-alcoholic).
2. Free food, lots of variety. My favorite is the pizza you served the other night.
3. Give everyone who attends a frag from your prop tank. You have too many and we all like to see how they grow in our “indoor tanks.

Oh, you should have plenty of bags, buckets, coolers, boxes, etc so we can come empty handed and go home with every thing you are giving us.

J/K……

The last time we all brought food and drinks to Larry’s place, it was a huge potluck. Larry was also nice enough to serve burgers and hot dog. Thank you! Mr. “the barbecue guy, who volunteer to man the grill.
Everyone who brought frags to trade did so with good pre-packaging, I do suggest have some extra bags and rubber bans on hand in case someone’s bag blows a leak. You will need a few on those long potable tables for people to put their boxes/cooler of frags, maybe you can “borrow the ones they are bring over for this weekend’s party at your house?

One more thing, You should get some name tags for people to put their real name and screen name on them selfs. This will make the swap a lot easier.

Pierce,

I new I could rely on you for helpful tips. I just picked up a 8" purple Monster, can I offer that to you for your guidance, experience and wisdom in frag hosting ?

Name tags, bags and table.... Okay easy things to work on.

Thanks

Dave

PS - Pierce the Purple Monster is from an Adult Wholesaler in Chatsworth..... LOL

o2manyfish - If you don't have it already, I have a frag of a pink table if your interested.

Dave, may I suggest you have plenty of towels and a mop handy. I remember quite a bit of spilled water at Larrys.

To newcomers, I would sugest an igloo type cooler/lunchbox to take home your frags.

Dave, again I post what may I bring?

anybody want some red sea xenia??? or do you all have enough. Thats all i have right now

o2manyfish
04/09/2003, 09:57 PM
David P,

As of today I have over 650g of my system outside. So there shouldn't be much to worry about mopping out. I have my two prop tanks and their sumps out in the yard. The Prop tanks are 48x38x12 so they have lots of floating area for frags.

Per Pierce's suggestion I will also have a couple of tables setup.

Everything is going to be outside. Once a time is chosen, if it's going to be late, I have several spare halide systems. So I can set those up outside as well so their is adequate viewing for all the frags.

As for what you can bring.... I don't know, don't need a mop :)

If there are a handful of people that want to put together some food things, I have an outdoor BBQ as well.

David N,

Not to be confused by David P or myself Dave B.

Everyone is welcome to my home. Just no lite beer, and you have to be nice to the giant tortoises that live in the back yard.

Whats up with the two tortoises in that picture?

o2manyfish
04/11/2003, 03:17 AM
Those aren't tortoises, those are security guards. They keep an eye on the frags to make sure my dogs don't play with them.

Who watches over your frag system :)
