Well I finally gave my old 15g tank a new DIY canopy for my 175w MH housing and 55w pc actinics. Got a new updated pic of the tank also here and on my site. I'm currently working on a couple of full DIY 30g tanks for a couple of friends. Hope to have it up soon. Let me know what you guys think, regards.

That is excellent, I love it.
I wish I could craft something like that.

Not to be critical but......

-First of all your work is excellent!

- I think it looks funny because the top is sooooo much bigger than the actual tank.

Is it because you have Metal Hallide?

Yes investigator1, the canopy was specially designed to hold a metal halide setup. Well you have to understand, its a 15 gallon tank. There's not much headroom to work with and heating issues would be a great problem with such a small sized tank. I designed the canopy with adequate space for cooling and for me to get into the tank without having to take off the top each time I need to get into it. If you think this canopy is big, my personal friends have 90+ gallon tanks with canopies that are much bigger than the tank itself! The bigger size just makes it so much more convenient. :)

I've gotten used to the huge canopy look and I think it actually looks good. Looks like a tall cabinet with a fishtank in it when placed against a wall.

Thanks Bluegend,
I like your rock setup in your 15g tank. I was thinking of a similar rock setup (similar to last month's reef tank of the month) for my friend's 30g setup. Did you get the rocks like that at your lfs or did you create that formation yourself, b/c thats a nice piece. And how did you get the rocks to stand straight w/o tipping over?

One more thing, your pics are super clear man! What is the resolution on your camera and is there a special way to take the pics also? I have a Sony 3.2meg and a friends Olympus 5.0Meg camera and I can't seem to get them that clear, maybe its something I'm doing wrong b/c I'm no professional photographer. Regards.

I have a Canon G3 4MP.

Check out the photography forum for tips on getting better pics of aquarium stuff. For the close-ups, I use a close-up filter set on my camera.

None of the rocks are glued together. The left side is comprised of 3 rocks sitting on 2 smaller rocks half-buried in the sand. The right side is 1 little rock perched at the top of the one large one standing up, which is also positioned on 2 smaller rocks half buried in the sand.

Took hours and hours to find the right fit and the right look with what fit. Fiddled every other day for a long time for it. The rocks are stable but can be knocked over with some force.
