new to the hobby

Hi,

I just started on salt, having had freshwater tanks for years I finally took the plunge three months ago.

I decided to start small
this is what I have so far

30 gallon long
5 inch dsb
15 pounds LR (adding 15 or more Later , going slow )
2 turbo's
1 cleaner shrimp
1 royal gramma

I've been having a blast with it so far.

My advice:

1. Read, read, read. Before you buy ANYTHING (particularly livestock), read up on it and make sure it is compatable with your system and other inhabitants. ReefCentral is great for this.

2. Join the local clubs (IMAS) discussion listserv. See http://www.idahoreefs.org/ for directions.

3. Go to a club (IMAS) meeting to meet other hobbyists and learn from them. See http://www.idahoreefs.org/ for date, time, and location. Club meetings are open to members and non-members alike.
