I have never had any noticeable calcium deposits on my tank walls, but recently I noticed a chalky white build-up on the glass of my in sump refugium.(powerheads and plastic have often had some). It has a consistency like coralline algae and takes a razor to be scraped off. This is all very near where the kalk is dosed. Corals are doing fine and coralline is spreading rapidly.
My calcium has never been at "recommended levels" according to Salifert test kit so lately I have been making an effort to add it (slowly) via kalk all night and C-balance every morning. At best calcium has been at 320.
Question is; Are calcium despoits a signal or bad sign as far as dosing practices, ie. too much, etc., or just a natural result of proper calcium levels. Can anything be done?
