Hi there Doc,
I was wondering if you ever did a write-up in 'Without a Backbone' on seacucumbers? Reason is I am trying to ID a cuc. that I saw at the LFS - the guys there didn't even know it was there. I really wish I could get a pic of it because it is a really magnificant looking creature. Is a baige color with long white spots in a definite pattern and has the meanest looking spikes covering its body. The LFS guys and I were trying to figure if they were poisonious - wanted to get a volunteer to touch one to find out but just couldn't recruit anyone! Also am trying to find out if certain cucumbers are coral carnivorous, any ideas on this thought? I'm currently sifting through all the information my search brought up, but that may take awhile. Thanks for your help and I hope you don't charge like medical doctors, because I can't afford it!!
Mark

Hi Mark,

Here is a URL for a cuke column.

http://www.animalnetwork.com/fish2/aqfm/2000/jan/wb/default.asp

The cukes with spikes are harmless. In most cases the spikes are just soft flesh.

No cuke is a coral carnivore. In fact, no cuke is a carnivore, period.

Hope this helps.

:D
