Well, let me be the first to say "nice write-up" on the sumps!

I look forward to the second part.

One suggestion you might want to cover in your second article, is to make sure the water baffles are far enough apart to get your hand down there to retrieve the screw, snail, or whatever will inevitably fall down in-between them. :)

But of course. Pretty frustrating to drop your last _anything_ down the bottom, and have to spend the next 15 minutes fishing around with a wire, under the stand, in the dark. :)

Here is another idea: This is a drawing I came up with tonight for a friend- The partition on the right will be a refuge, but since the whole thing won't fit though the door, we are breaking it up in to two pieces. I think it will be great!
