Hello all.
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in jumping in on the purchase of a few "Berghia verrucicornis" (the Aptasia eating nudi.). I was thinking that maybe a few member would be interested in splitting the cost and rotating them from tank to tank (like monthly?). Every Month the person with the nudi give them to the next member to take care of their Aptasia problems. I would buy them myself but I fear that they would rapidly consume my population and starve to death.
Would anyone be interested? Anything to add?
Of course we would have to iron out the details.
Cheers
Pete

Actually I was about to post the same thing a while ago but christmas vacationing kept me busy. I have a small tank (10 gallon) and I have noticed some aiptasia in hard to reach spots which are really too small to be injected with anything. I planned on just spreading some epoxy over them but I guess this is a more natural route. Maybe I could buy one/two from you when you're done with them but I think I only got enough in my tank to keep them alive for a week or two. Anyone else interested?

Add me to the list. I've been thinking about Peppermint shrimp, but would be more than happy to join in on this one.

Great I was hoping to get at least four people, hopefully 1 or 2 more might join in.
Here's where we stand on this:
The only retail online store I know that sells them is Inland Aquatics. I talked to them today and they said it will be a 10-12 week wait on them. The prices are 1/4" $19.99 and 1/2" $24.99. They also said to call and place the order in advance.

I also posted a thread in the RC selling forum asking if anyone has any that they'd like to get rid of....no bites as of yet.

I guess we can discuss this a bit more at the meeting, just thought I'd give you guys an update, and let you know that Im working on it for us...

Well above is basically all I could dig up...
I think I going to try and......and I can't believe I'm saying this.... cultivate Aptasia.
I have a 10 gallon thats been cycling for 2 months. I think I'm going to set up some jars too. I want thousands of Aptaisa! From what I've read I think it will be near impossible for us, once we get them into our tanks to get them out. So breeding is looking like the only option here....
I guess well just talk about it at the meeting.
Good night all.

I also wouldn't mind plumbing an extra tank to my system to breed Berghia, although I would need many people to donate aiptasia to me.

You don't want to do that, Mike! Aiptasia will spread to your main tank if you do.

That's OK, I'm man enough to take it.

just kidding, not gonna try it, but do have a spare 20 long I found in the trash to setup for lots of aiptasia.
