Gobie vs Sandbed ?

I'm new to reef / sandbed setups so please excuse my ignorance. Are all Gobies damaging to the DSB? I was thinking of getting a couple neon's and a couple watchman gobies to go along with a shrimp of some kind.

Any fish - goby or otherwise - that excavates the sediment or sifts the sediment will damage or destroy the sand bed fauna. Those animals that "sift" sand are "sifting" the said sand to remove food from it. Their food are the animals that you need to keep the bed functional.

Neon gobies should be fine. Watchman gobies aren't.
