28W X 65K Compact Flourescent

Just wandering if anyone has considered this alternative. I can get a three socket vanity strip (12") and run the compacts on it. They are the swirlly type that plug right into the incandescent sockets. I think this would give me around 78 watts total.

For actinic, I was thinking about picking up an 18" flourescent strip at HD for ~$6 on sale (Lights of America). I'll take out the 15 watt white and replace it with actinic.

Im using 65k lights that screw into incandescent socket... but they are 19 watts and from home depot... 8 bux or so if i remember correctly....

I just started an experimental tank with them....but it seems like everything is getting enough lights...

from shrooms....zooanthids....frogspawn....xenia




but at anyrate its great for growing macro algea
