Lights of America Circle Light. Product # 2630. Troy Brightbill has excellent step by step instructions at his website on how to DIY one of these circle lights into a ballast for 1 28W Power Compact Bulb. Read his page and go nuts!
http://home.pacifier.com/~tab/28W.htm

I have built these DIY ballasts, and would say they are easy to do even for a beginning DIYer like myself. But, if you are not proficient at soldering, for God's sake use wire nuts instead!
www.marinedepot.com (http://www.marinedepot.com) offers great prices and free shipping on power compact bulbs if you order 4 or more.

I've used the LOA outdoor security lights. They're 28 watt compact fluor. The box says 4000k, but someone called them and was told they're closer to 5000k. I've used them on a 10 gal refugium/ caulerpa tank with no alga problems.

kmk....its a little acrylic tank.....kinda odd shaped, they're actually just setting on top the tank, which it looks pretty clean and everything, just like its how it is supposed to be. They are setting perpindicular. I'll take some pics with the digital tomorrow afternoon.....do you have an email addy I could send them to?

BTW, It would be nothing at all to put a couple eye screws into these guys and suspend them....Give you that cool Euro look!

Err... I don't think I could set them on top like you did. Your tank is drilled in the back for the sump, right? I was gonna have my old skilter hanging on the back for water motion / holding my heater. I could always build something to hold them up, though.

No problems with heat at all.......it gets up to about 80.5 max at night in the winter, and about 81.5 max in the summer. I think it would be really easy to make some kind of stand/legs out of acrylic or something so that they would set up off the tank. That way you could still run the skilter. I'll brain storm some and see what I can come up with and let ya know.

BTW, yes, backdrilled, WHICH SUX! hehe :D

Nishant,

Here is the link....I ended up wiring in four 9W actinics, two in each pendant, which made for a nicer appearance. This pic is w/out actinics.

Also forgot to add, I had two colts, a Sinularia, Devil's Hand, Xenia Elongata, Red Sea Xenia, Squamosa clam, Green finger leather, open brain, meat coral, green star polyps, buttons, mushrooms, and Seriatapora (birds nest).
