Changing Bulbs

My BioCube 14 has been running for 8 months. Is it time to change out the PC bulbs? If not, when should I do this?

Recommendations are anywhere from 8 to 24 months before replacing CFL lamps.If you start developing nuisance algae and parameters check out Ok , if the bulbs are old they're probably past their prime. You probably won't notice the color shift as the bulbs age because it's so gradual.

I swap out my Coralife PC bulbs once a year. Every time I do it I'm amazed at how much the color of the old bulbs has shifted to a brown/yellow.


BTW, I save the old bulbs just in case one of the new bulbs fails. Better a crappy bulb than no bulb at all.
