I just received my new Halide Sunpod(150 watt) for my recently set up 20 gallon reef tank. For the last 2 weeks I have been using a basic flouresent light.

I have mostly polyps, zoas and a few leather pieces in the tank along with a nice slab of Montipora which sits at the top. I am concerned about "light shock" and would think that I need to slowly acclimate the corals to the higher intensity lighting.

Can any one suggest a photoperiod to start off with as I dont want to burn up the corals.
Thanks

i just used the high light technique..

when i jumped up to 150mh i had my light about a foot or more off the tank...now it sits about 7 inches to the glass...i just lowered it about an inch a day and added an hour to the photo period daily aswell..

so for me it took a week to lower the light (5days) and i started with a 4 hour mh light on...currently at about 9 hours of mh a day..

at the time i had mostly soft corals...now mostly hard with a bunch of zoas..

you can also throw a piece of eggcrate across the top with a few layers of screen, then just take one or two off every few days
