This is my first post............. so here it goes.
I want to get a 12 gallon aquapod, or something to that effect. i was thinking about getting a gorgonian or two from a friend of mine...and a part of his frogspawn if he'll let me.
the big thing is that i would like to have a seahorse for it... any suggestions for any fish instead of the seahorse or a specific type of seahorse are most definitely welcome!!!
thank you for your help!

Check out the sea horse thread. Im sure you'll find everything you need to know. I also was just reading an article a few min's ago and someone had a 2g with a seahorse and clown goby

that sounds like a lot for a bitty bitty 2g.

So many options...

First, remember that some gorgonians are not dependent on the light for nutrients so you will need other food sources. Seahorses also have some tougher eating requirements.

Some fish you might try are clown gobies, panda gobies or purple firefish. A black clown is always a good choice. Tailspot blenny maybe.

i have a friend with a couple of gorgonians, and i've read up on their light prefs....so i think i'll be good on that.
i do like the black clown goby...but i was thinking about a hi fin red banded goby...it's awesome.
too bad i don't have lots of money to spend or i'd get a flaming prawn goby. it's beautiful, but i don't have 130 bucks to buy it.
i was also thinking about just getting some decorative shrimp.
i like the coral banded shrimp and the fire shrimp.

hehe...thankee thankee mike!
*hugs*
anyway...
here's the plan
so i was thinking
6 gallon nano (12 if i'm lucky)
and just to start off...
1 hi fin red stripe goby
1 fire shrimp
6 lbs LR(ish)
of course hermits and a few snails
yellow and red finger gorgonians.

i think that's it for now.

okay..changed again. i found a 10 gallon that i like.
:D
and i'm just gonna start with the corals for now...until i think my tank is settled enough (and i feel comfortable enough) to put in whatever else i feel like.

Watch out for the coral baded shrimp. Mine was nasty to my clowns and constantly going after them, that is until Mike pulled his claws off. Hes gone now because of the aggression

Awww, I'm sorry bud. I seriously didn't mean to. But you have to admit, when we wrapped him in bacon, smothered him in BBQ sauce, and tossed him on the grill, he was delicious!

Back to the topic....
I love my yellow headed, red antenna goby, they have lots of common names. But he's pretty shy, I rarely see him except for feeding time.

My Rainfords is much more active and always cruising the rocks snapping up something...pods I'm assuming. He also sifts the sand and keeps it nice and clean.

I'm a firm believer in going very slowly. I let my 20 gal sit with just live rock, snails and hermits for 3 months before adding a single coral or fish. Did wonders for the pod and worm populations. The tank is covered with tiny duster worms now and and I'm seeing isopods up to 1/4".

I'm envious, setting up a new tank is always exciting.

hehe...thanks.
i was thinking about letting mine just sit with rock, gorgonians, crabs, and snails for a while. i'm not 100% sure on it tho...
i think your goby is the type i wanted....i've called it a hi fin red banded (or striped)...but the latin is-stenogobiops nematodes....is it the same one? i think they're beautiful.

Yep, that's the guy. AKA Antennae Goby, Blackray Shrimp Goby, Red Antenna Goby, High-fin Shrimpgoby, candy cane goby and yellow rose goby. :D Now you know why so many people use the latin names.

They are awsome looking. Mine was the only fish in the tank for a while, and I saw him quite a bit then. He'd hover outside his favorite hidy hole most of the time. Since I've added the Rainfords and clown he only darts out to smap at passing food then dissapears again.

i was just thinking about having one of those and a fire shrimp...so i figured it wouldn't really be an issue.

Mine gets spooked by snails! :(

Saw a really cool tiny fish at the LFS yesterday. They called it a Barnacle Blennie. I want to find out more about it, may have to set up a nano just for one. ;)
