I thought I'd start a thread where people could post photos of ane discuss some Boise reef aquariums. For instance, we could post photos of the aquariums the club tours at its monthly meeting, as well as photos of your own tank, or tanks worth looking at. I'll plan on taking photos of the tanks we visit during our monthly meeting. The perfect one to start with is a tour of Larry Read's tank, which Steve Nipper and I visited recently. Larry said he would give the group a tour some evening in November if people are interested.

Anyway, to start off the tour of Larry's tank, here is a link to photos of his tank, and below are the specs of his tank.

On the photos of Kaden's tank, the first two are taken by me, and the others are by Scott Morrell, who had the foresight to have good batteries in his camera. Thanks Scott!

You all have not taken the Lee Read tour yet???
Well if the tour winds up happening in december then count me in. On a side note; it seems like the kenpo school that I am teaching at seems to be closing so I just may finally be able to make it to the meetings! wahoo,

Just of note: the Lee Reed Tour seems to be down, also is this tank in his store or at his home? If it's in the store, I'll have to go check it out while in Boise for Christmas.

The tank is in lee read jewelers which is located in Meridian just off of the freeway. If you read FAMA mag you can see pictures of the the tank in one of the custom acylic tank manufactures ad.

yeah, I seem to remember hearing about the tank in his radio ads when the building first opened up (while I was still living in Boise). Too bad I never got around to checking it out.

Scott:

Is your setup considered a "bullet proof reef" per GARF's definition/instruction/direction?

Some information I can add that is not on Doug's site are that the tank is the epitome of a nicely finished aquarium. Doug made the stand and hood, and it includes such nice touches as a panel to cover the overflow corner, and wooden corner brackets to cover the corner seam in the glass. The sump is inside the stand, and rests in a glass catch basin. Unlike my tank, Doug's wiring is neat and tidy.
