Nano tank owners I need your assistance with the fuge mod for the 2nd chamber in my BC29 ASAP. I plan on removing my skimmer today and making a fuge. Any pics and advice would be most welcome.

I currently have the BC29 Sapphire skimmer running in the 2nd chamber. What are the advantages/disadvantages of having a refugium versus the skimmer? Should I just keep the skimmer? I'm asking all these questions cause I have been battling some Hair Algae in the display area and think a fuge may take care of this issue. Do any of you have the drip tray placed back on top of the 2nd chamber with some floss to help polish the water? What type of critters do you have in your 2nd chamber fuge. Do you have L/S or miracle mud as the 1st layer of the fuge followed by L/R and chaeto?

Keep the skimmer and turn the 1st chamber into a fuge.

Would it even be beneficial to have such a small fuge since it would be located in the 1st chamber?

Cloob, Instead of a fuge you could place a wad of chaeto in the upper back of the display tank . I anchor mine around the return nozzle. It grows pretty fast with the tank lighting. My tank is almost a year old and nitrates are usually close to zero with 3 gallon water changes every two weeks. That is without a skimmer.

just wondering if you ever got an answer to your fuge question? I'm wondering the same thing :)
have you thought about what you would do for lights over the 2nd chamber if you added a fuge? i'm looking for ideas here......
