The Ben Franklin here in TRF is having a going out of business sale. It is turning up some good deals on tanks and some dry goods. Used 20H freshwater tanks with heaters, HOB filters, gravel and misc decorations $25 each (can be converted to salt at this price)...

If you need one more more, I can pick them up for you. But you will need to come and get it.

Well, since you've seen my tank... anything there that could be converted into a sump/fuge? Maybe a 30 gallon long?

They have a few new tanks in a variety of sizes. What will fit under your tank?? Maybe a 20L?? They have a used one for $25. Heck their new ones cost about the same. All AGA brand.

I'm afraid I'm not real familiar with tank dimensions, but the usable space under my tank is 37L, 17W. However, the tank would have to slide in the front door of it, which is 29" from the far left of the storage area to the far right of the door opening. Any suggestions?

Oh man, fitting a sump under my old 75g stand was a pain. I ended up having a custom 65g made for me. You are going to need to try this and that. You may end up using some sort of Rubbermaid container. Sumps helps to install at time of tank installation. Go to glasscages.com and see their list of tanks and sizes and let me know what will work for you.

Well, according to my measurements and a small mock-up I made, either a 20 gallon long, or a 29 gallon (30x12.5 inches) will fit quite nicely below my tank. So if they've got a 29 gallon for a reasonable price, that'd be awesome. Would a 20g be worth the trouble?

A 20g with a few baffles would eliminate your heater, skimmer and other eye-sores from the main tank, plus give you a little extra volume. But you will need to get an overflow and I recommend a U-Tube style. You can find them for sale on the for sale forums. I know they have at least (2) 20L's, both new and used, but I don't know about the 29g. I can get it tonight if you need.

How much is the new, do you know?

Mr James

No. But I got one for another club member over here in MN when the sale was 50% off and he paid $26 for a 20L. The sale is up to 60%, so if you are a wiz with math, unlike me, you could figure it out. If it is under $25, you want it??

Hey Mr., how much are just heaters? what kind? How many watts? You wanna hook a brother up with a couple/few if they are decent?

Mr James

They aren't decent, I checked. I needed a few myself. The best they have are 100w hang on's. I think the brand is Tetra. If you want that or anything else (Kent products), I can get it for you and send it. I think some of the products are Iodine, Tech A/B, Reef Builder, Strontium, Coral D (for dipping I think), some flake foods, misc el cheapo powerheads, lots of HOB filter media. etc...

The tanks range in size from 2g up to 20L and 20H's. The 15Tall is pretty neat IMO. Jeff, had I know you wanted anything, my folks were just in town and could have taken some tanks or whatever back for you. But they live in Lansing, MI., basically 2 hours drive from Fort Wayne.

Wowee! Thanks James, that's awesome! What's your day look like tonight and tomorrow? I don't have much anything scheduled due to crummy weather, so it'd be good if I could come by and pick it up!

Tonight is good. Tomorrow is too. Thursday night is not good. Be careful on "The Cut-Across". I got nailed 85 mph in a 55 mph zone. My Florida lead foot is going to have to be retired. I'll PM you my address and contact info.
