Just got my AqauC and set it up on my tank. Let me tell ya, it's big to be a nano. Also it makes LOTS and LOTS of noise. The manufacturer says it will become quiter within a week or two but it's LOUD.

Anyone else had this problem?? Also is there any adjustment I should make to increase air bubbles. The instruction manual doesn't say.

Call Aqua C, i have a Remora and it is a little loud but it gets better. If you have questions they are the best, Ive called a few times, they are very helpful!

once you get that layer of algae growth and salt creep in it, it should quiet down some, but not completely. It will take a week or two.

Thanks guys. I read that 2 weeks is about the time before I would see a considerable difference in noise reduction. I may have to kill myself if I have to listen to my wife complain about the noise for two weeks:eek2: . I sure its probably a good skimmer but I'm going to get a simple reverse flow bubble which will be MUCH quieter. Maybe not as efficient, but at least I don't have to hear the nag nag nag nag everyday.

wife noise is harder to control, and IME only gets worse with time. easier to replace skimmer.

I've had it for over 2 months and the noise is still the same! I have done everything to try and quiet it down to no avail. It also skims very wet!

I have to second this. I also have a Remora Nano, and while I am happy with it's perfomance, it is pretty loud. Fortunately in my case the noise isn't a problem. (tank is in my office where it doesn't disturb anyone)

I have had one over a year now and really like it. There is no way to adjust the bubbles. The plastic screw comes out to clean the injector with a brush. Chaeto gets caught in mine, just don't lose the screw to the body of the injector or it might get stuck.

There is a mod to decrease noise, check equipment forum. I don't worry about noise because my mag-drive return pump is noisier.

I also replaced the maxi-jet 900 with a maxi-jet 1200 and I get a lot more skimmate, thicker and darker too.

I'd try one of the mods for quieting. Try a search. It's the same mod for the other size remoras as well.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll take a look at the equipment forum.

Couldn't find any mods under equipment forum. I think I could use sound absorbant material to encase my AquaC. I'll let you guys know if it works.

Try using google to search instead, I found several threads.

Mine was too loud as well. It is in my bedroom and the thing kept me up. It did skim extremely well though!! But it made a horrible gurgling sound that was louder then my current usa sunpods fan! So anyway out it went and in went the Tunze! Tunze is a bit noisy too, but not nearly as noisy as the remora nano. Tunze does not skim nearly as well as the remora nano did. Don't get me wrong the Tunze skims just fine, but not as well as the remora. The Tunze took a lot longer to break-in and I had to adjust it for about 2 weeks before I found the semi sweet spot. However it has mysteriously stopped skimming and I wonder if it does not have something to do with the addition of a Tunze Osmolator. I use to use a dual float switch connected to a aqualifter which seemed to be a bit of a gradual topoff of freshwater. However this Tunze osmolator dumps a ton of freshwater in the tank very rapidly and I think it is throwing the skimmer off and causing it to constantly restart.

Stuff some papertowel above the injector, works on Remoras

Super Quiet.

Mini Me6,

Have you tried the paper towel mod?

Mini Me6

Yes I tried the paper towel, foam and the rubber band trick. This gizmo absorbs alot more noise. Now the lighting fan is louder which is not that bad. I used the styrofoam material the Remora came in and glued pieces together. Looks funny, but it works. One I will get some better sound proofing material.

Good idea! You've discovered some cheap and easy to work with sound proofing material. I'll have to try it on something.

I revised my gizmo to dampen the sound of my skimmer. More pleasing to look at.

I saw this in HD store for cabinets padding. I felt it would better than my existing setup. I plan to paint it black.

The noise level DROPPED by 50%. I can hear my tv now without raising the volume to max.

Wait wait, the wife is not NAGGING me:lol: .
