I bought a hydor theo 50w bc it seems that everyone has one for their ap 12's i put it in the 2nd chamber bc it was tough fitn it with the return in the 4th. I set the heater to 80f and checked the temp in the tank in the morning and its only 73.3f. ***! I even put the therm in the chamber with the heater and it only reads 73.4f. it appears the light on the heater comes on for a bit then shuts off then comes back on again. shouldnt it stay on till the water is heated to 80?

I also purchased a hydor theo a while back and it caused me no end of problems.

Even after setting it to the correct temprature on the dial it would not shut off and had to eventualy have it on the lowest setting just to keep it at 79f. Since then i have replaced it and use it for my water changes and now the damn thing doesnt even shut off.

Bad rep in my eyes.

all heaters need to be calibrated, and some are just better built then others. its one piece of equipment you don't want going bad on you!!!!
