Hi, On my AP-12 I want to start a fuge in either the 2nd or 3rd compartment.

I see some use a small drop in pond light, while others cut a section of the vinyl away behind the compartment and shine a light thru.

Which way will give better results for the Cheato?

I would think the drop in light would add a lot of heat to the water since its in direct contact.

If I choose to shine a light thru the back, any suggestions on what type of light, how many watts, and should it be 6500 or 10K light?

Thanks in advance...

I prefer the on back light for the reason you mentioned as well as the options not being limited.

I have a shop light that I got from HomeDepot which was about $20 which some say Wal-Mart has for a bit less....it's yellow and has a 13w PC bulb which is 6500k so it's perfect for the job. I personally did not like the looks of it so I ripped it out of the housing and got a junction box which is gray for outdoor electrical and modded it into that box which now is velcro'ed to the back of my tank and growing algae like no other!
