Hi guys,
Well, i start out with what i have. i have a 29g bio cube with a tunze nano skimmer and a 150w HM "sunpod".
Every time o come home from school, i get this green algae on my glass. Not to terrible but unsightly. I also have hair algae witch is a big pain. My Coral banded shrimp died the other day, and don't no why. But the hair agile has been the biggest of the problems. I run chemi pure elite with a filter sock and filter floss.

Ammonia:- 0ppm
Nitrate -10 ppm
Nitrite -0ppm
Ph -8.6
Salt- .025

thanks agian

Maybe cut down on your photoperiod a few hours and try placing some chaeto in the tank . If the algae on your glass is a lime green that can be brushed away real easy . I am guessing it is a fairly new system. Just part of an unavoidable cycle that will clear up soon. try to get your trates down a little with water changes.
Do you test your phosphates?

Sorry about your CBS. Are you sure it was not a molt . My crabs and shrimp have tricked me a couple of times.

Whats your flow like in the tank? Phosphates? Photoperiod?

Are you using ro/di water, or faucet water? Tap water = nasty algae problem & maybe mysterious shrimp death. If using tap water, do several large water changes using ro/di water.

If you are already using ro/di, maybe add to your cuc? Might be able to get away with a lawnmower blenny that would tear through that algae quick!

Hi guys, sorry about the slow response. I was out of town this weekend. I do have an l/m blenny. Along with 2 clowns, a Sand Sifting Cucumber and a pencil urchin. Both which are not the most easy thing to keep. But both are doing well. I have no clue why my shrimp died. But, maybe it was old or something. But i use DI water and do water changes every other week, or week.i also tried cutting down on feeding. Any other thoughts?
James.

Do you feed frozen food? If so do you rinse it well?

Yup, could be part of the prob. All those frozen juices turn right to nitrates . Just rinse in a net under tap water.

also, is natural light getting on the tank? Sunlight can make algae bloom
