Seems like an awful lot of conversation on this board is about skimmers - which one, setting them up, etc.

I've never thought skimmers were necessary, especially on a nano.

So, how many of you run them? How big is your nano?

Just curious.

I run one.

I bought it for a 10G that had a pretty high bioload. I doubt I really needed it as I kept up with water changes and had macro algae.

Since I have one, why not run it?

I have a skimmer in the closet, but I don't run it.

I have a pretty good bioload in my 29g, but find that 5g weekly water changes and a fuge filled with chaeto...and some halimedia in the display....and a good amount of softie-filtration does the trick.

Of course, you have to be really careful of feeding and your water source, but that's just part o' the husbandry.

i run a prizm pro (up to 100 gallons) on my 29 G tank. before I got it, my tank smelled a bit, I was having water quality issues like Phosphates, corals and fish were not looking great, but the pulsing xenia was spreading like crazy. Since I started using the skimmer, corals and fish are growing like crazy, water is perfect (knock on wood), smell is gone, water is crystal clear, but the zenia died.

I tend to overfilter. I run a rena xp-2 and this Prizm Pro on a 29G, it seems to be working very well and I don't have to do as many water changes now and I have 8 fish.

I run an aquaC nano on my 20gal in addition to 10% water change every week (sometimes two weeks if i'm lazy). It helps a lot with the water quality and no oily film on the surface.

I just ordered the deltec mce300 for my 28 g tank. i like to feed a varienty of things to the inhabitants so a good skimmer is a must for me. I still do my routine water changes.

Running the stock skimmer in my RSM.

It could do better but still, this is an efficient cr*p removal tool.

It is for sure a great safety net for beginners like me.

I run a Odyssea ps75 on a 30g reef wih a Gen-X 1500 NW pump; got the skimmer on ebay for $45 and the pump for $40, so is a cheap skimmer that works very well in my opinion.:)

I don't run one on either my 10 gallon or my 40b. Both are just softy tanks though. If I had SPS I'd go BB with a huge skimmer.

I run a css220 w/ gen-x 2700 mesh mod. on my 22g nano. 20reefer take off the back plate of your gen-x pump there will prob. be exposed metal that needs to be epoxyed mine was half rusted befoe I found it.Check it out if you dont it may lead to problems down the road I am pretty shure all the submersible gen-x pumps have this problem.

CPR Bak-Pak 2R+ on my 20H mixed reef.

I wouldn't run a saltwater tank without one.
