I've decided to take the easier route of using a glass aquarium to build my sump. Can anybody tell me how to mount the baffles that serparate the sections?

I'm looking to have a refugium in the center section of the sump so the partitions need to be stable.

What would you do? Do you just buy glass and silicone it into place?

Vanguard,
First off, Welcome to the board!!
I'll tell you what I did. I used a 40 gal breeder for the sump and some 1/4" acrylic for the baffles. I used aquarium safe silicone to glue the baffles in place. For a few pictures click here (http://bobsreefermadness.homestead.com/300gal_plumbing_page1.html)

You could also use some glass and it would have the same thermal characteristics as the tank.

Thank you for you kind welcome and for your advice. Your site was *really* helpful. I was planning on building a sump using this model. http://www.angelfire.com/ok/dog1/sumps.html

Do you think that silicone will hold the lateral pressure of the sand/rock?

Vanguard,
That's a very good design to copy. You should have no problem using silicone to hold the baffles in place. If you look at my sump again you will notice some black silicone between the baffles. It is holding baffle supports in place. I cut some scrap acrylic 1-1/2" wide and glued them flat between the baffles. They serve as spacers and extra support for the baffles. Works great.
