I got this about a year ago. Didn't know what it was, but I like the purple color and it was different. All the time I've had it there was never a green rim, now over the last couple of weeks a green rim has appeared. Anyone know what it is? I figure some kind of LPS.

You don't think it might be a porites? Really pretty, the green rim is nice.

I saw soemthing like this this morning in my copy of Borneman's Corals, it might be a type of Leptoseris, one picture of them has those spider like formations, but the one in the picture it reminds me of has more of ridges then bumps on the rest of it. Maybe search that?

It looks very much like something from the Agariciidae family. I would lean towards a Pavona species more than a Leptoseris- but Im really not sure. There are certainly similarities to both, but some odd differences from either as well. Helpful, huh? lol

I agree that its an LPS.

I'd need to look in the 3 volume Corals book as I'm sure I saw it in there while trying to ID this very strange echniophyllia..

Can't recall off the top of my head exactly what it was though

I vote psammocora. Every one I've seen also has the green growing rim as yours does.
