the shop i bought it from said that it was a pigmy sun polyp. when i asked some trusted reefer they said it was a type of Balanophyllia bairdiana but i have no idea. the polyps come out clear with what look like bubbles in them. they are small, the biggest one is about 1/4 inch. an ideas?

1st two pictures they say are balanophyllia bairdiana. I'm wondering if b. bairdiana is a much larger coral than yours???
If you can get it to open its tentacles to feed, can you please take some closer pictures?

Hey acerr, found this on the net. They say its a b. bairdiana and that it has a max diameter of 2

no they have a bardia that is that small off of australia, but take a look at this species: Tubastrea faulkneri.

Acerr, do you think yours are tubastrea faulkneri or some kind of baby sun coral?

Are the biggest ones 1/4" when open or when closed? Got any biggeer pics? Can't really see much.
T. faulkerni would be my first guess.

look at this link, it fits it almost to a T. it was covered in sponges, it is small and looks about the same. that is also what it looks like when open.

acerr -sure does look like dendrophyllia wellsi to me. Good research. Anymore pics would be great.
