Henry,

Here is a pic of that Tang I mentioned to you at the last meeting.
Not sure what species he is, but he's growing like a weed.

Thanks,
Dan

looks like a juvenile Acanthurus bahianus. is there a white stripe behind the caudal peduncle spine?

strike that :)

i found your guy. i hope it is in a HUGE aquarium, as it is not gonna stop growing for a long, long time. should top out in the range of 24 - 26 inches, not including the tail.

Acanthurus xanthopterus

have you noticed this fish picking at diatoms or detritus?

Henry,

There is a vertical white bar behind the tail, although it is only visible after lights out when his color darkens considerably.

He is very omnivorous. When I let the glass get covered he will pick at the diatoms pretty heavily. He picks at the rocks and macros in passing, but seems to spend most of his energy searching the water column. Any pods that are launched by the return or power head are quickly gobbled up before they can make it back to the substrate. I almost wonder if he isn't naturally a planktivore.

His body shape has changed quite a bit since I got him. He was much more zebrasoma-like when I bought him. Also, the yellow markings around the eyes are a new development in the last couple months.

Thanks lots,
Dan
