Fragging Fungia

I have maybe 5 fungia corals that came on my live rock. Given plenty of space and light, they grow fast. I have people begging me for fungia, and my sandbed is too crowded. The fungia would grow faster if they had more room.

I am hesitant to give any away, since I haven't figured out how to make more. Could I just cut the disk up like a mushroom? What about taking a chunk off the edge? I've been afraid to try anything. Any other ideas?

From hearing Anthony Calfo's presentation a couple days ago, yes, you can frag fungia. From what I remember, just break them up into pie shaped pieces.

youcan frag them. my friend frags his all the time. the new pieces grow a new mouth.

he uses his dremel to take out a small piece from the edge, about 1.5" x 1.5". he does not cut close to the mouth of the original plate.
