Fish Kill Blamed on Red Tide Algae
Volusia County biologists said Monday a massive fish kill along two miles of the county's shoreline was caused by the Red Tide, a dangerous algae bloom. Tens of thousands of fish have died recently in the area around New Smyrna Beach. The Red Tide algae attacks the central nervous system in fish and then kills them. In the past, off-shore breezes have caused beachgoers and waterfront residents to suffer respiratory problems as well as sneezing and itchy eyes when the Red Tide is blooming.

Nasty stuff!

Doesn't seem to be noticable in the air. I've experienced it on West coast of Florida and couldn't stop caughing when it was around. Went surfing and saw lots of fish around. Even saw a 6' spinner shark launch several feet in air 100 feet away from me. Headed in since this is suppose to be shark bite capital.
